The October 15 Outreach: Feeding the homeless both physically and mentally.

At Rupasa we believe that mental health awareness and education should reach everyone and therefore every year we dedicate the week around October 15 to reaching out to the homeless. Our founder was born on this day and he began dedicating this day to spending time with those less fortunate in an attempt to try to help with those things that they struggle to talk about. On this day we take time to speak to the homeless and offer a listening ear to their troubles and challenges and we educate them on mental health and how they can seek help when they are feeling overwhelmed and troubled mentally. To top off this special day we take time to have lunch with them and at least for a moment give them a chance to laugh and smile and know that we genuinely care. Apart from feeding their stomachs and minds we hope this program can grow further by proving items of clothing as well as blankets for the cold nights. We are also looking to engage with a partner to help us select teens from the groups we speak to who we can sponsor to attend vocational schools so they may harness skills that will help them break the cycle of poverty. Since 2018 we have only been able to provide food, a listening ear and knowledge on mental health but with your help we can expand the horizons of the homeless people that we meet during the October 15 outreach.
